college CATECHISM

The overall atmosphere in college are totally different from that in the schools. In colleges, students are treated as adults and are given more freedom and students attend classes in varied combinations depending on the choice of subjects they have chosen.

Also, institutions, tend to give less importance to Catechism classes.  While it is possible to have Catechism classes for  XI & XII students it is not so feasible to do the same for Degree Students.

All Catholic Colleges, both affiliated to the Archdiocesan Board   of Education and those managed by Religious Congregations, are required to register their Catholic students with the Commission for Catechetics at the beginning of new academic years. .

The Commission promulgates the syllabus for the year and sets the question papers for the annual Catechism Examination.  The examination is conducted at the respective colleges and the results are sent to the Commission’s office.  The success of Catechism classes at the College level purely depends on the interest and responsibility undertaken by the college management.

There is an imperative need to ensure College Catechism classes are accorded due importance and conducted in an efficient and effective way.
